And the winner is …

Liesel Shuholm of Grass Valley, shown here with Twin Cities Concert Association Artistic Director Ken Hardin, left, and Joe Hammel, president of TCCA, recently received a $500 Autumn Youth Scholarship from the association. A seventh-grader at Lyman Gilmore Middle School, Shuholm plays piano, sings and acts. On her behalf, Judy Wilkins wrote “In 30 years as a … piano teacher … I have seen only a few students as talented and hard working as Liesel, but never one who exuded the same degree of sheer love of music and of performing. Making music is at the core of her being, something she needs to do as much as having air to breathe.” Shuholm hopes to ultimately sing on Broadway.
