Former supervisor dies at 71

The Union staff

Former Nevada County supervisor and electrical business executive Thomas Lee Turner of Grass Valley has died. He was 71.

Mr. Turner was a Nevada County Planning Commission member from 1965 to 1967, a member of the Nevada County Civil Grand Jury for the 1971-1972 term and a county supervisor from 1973 to 1975.

“His biggest love was his family,” said daughter Cindy Browning of Grass Valley. “He was ambitious and he loved a challenge.”

Mr. Turner, who founded Turner Electric Company, resigned early from his elected supervisor post when his company took on a large project outside of the county, according to county records.
