Former city manager leaves county position

Mark Miller, Nevada County’s sanitation department director and past city manager for Nevada City, is moving on.

“I want to thank the county. We have a great staff here, and I’ve enjoyed working with dedicated people and a great board of supervisors,” Miller said. “It’s a much smaller staff than three years ago and everybody is working a lot harder.”

His last day is Tuesday.

Miller worked at the county for about three years, and about six years as Nevada City manager before that.

Director of Public Works Doug Farrell will take over Miller’s responsibilities while the county looks for a replacement, said County Executive Rick Haffey.

“We are going to take some time to fill the position. That area of the county is evolving,” Haffey said. “Mark did a wonderful job.”

He hopes to have the position filled by the end of the year, Haffey added.
