First property tax installment due Monday
December 6, 2018
Nevada County Treasurer and Tax Collector Tina M. Vernon reminds property owners that the delinquent date for the first installment of the 2018-2019 secured tax bill is at 5 p.m. today.
Payments must be received in the tax collector's office or show a postmark of Dec. 10. If mailing close to the date, Vernon recommends getting a hand stamped postmark to ensure timely payment.
If received after the Monday date without a timely postmark, a 10 percent penalty will be added for late payment.
If you own property in Nevada County and have not received a tax bill, a copy may be printed from the tax collector's website at http://www.mynevadacounty.com/365/My-Tax-Bill.
Payment transactions may also be made online at http://www.mynevadacounty.com/372/Pay-Your-Tax-Bill or by phone at 888-243-1366 up until 11:59 p.m. Dec. 10.
Those going that route must have their bill number, parcel number and amount due. There is a 2.4 percent fee associated with credit card transactions and a 50 cent charge for electronic check.
