Fire watch through Thursday

A fire watch has been issued for western Nevada County from tonight through Thursday by the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

Predicted high daytime temperatures in the 90s, humidity levels below 20 percent and winds which will start picking up today caused the warning.

Those winds up to 20 mph could gust through canyons, passes and over ridges during the period, heightening already tinder-box conditions for wildfire in the Sierra.

Evening lows will bring some relief in the 60s through the weekend.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s through Friday, with high 80s predicted for Sunday and Labor Day. No precipitation is expected from now through the holiday.
