Fire in Penn Valley

Firefighters from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Penn Valley Fire Protection District responded Monday afternoon to a one and a half acre fire behind a residence off of Indian Springs Road near Long Valley Road, according to Calfire personnel and area residents.

Two Calfire fire engines and handcrew, a Calfire air attack plane, a Calfire air tanker and a United States Forest Service helicopter responded to blaze, dropping fire retardant. The cause of the fire is unknown, Calfire personnel said.
