Fire crews snuff out small blaze on Tahoe Forest land

On Sunday, fire crews snuffed out a small spot fire started by an abandoned flaming vehicle four to five miles from Cascade Shores on a remote portion of Quaker Hill Road. The fire burned a quarter to half an acre on property owned by the Tahoe National Forest, said Dan Paulis, engineer for Nevada County Consolidated Fire Engine 54. “It was just a small spot fire caused by a vehicle fire. It appeared to be an abandoned vehicle,” Paulis said. An engine from Calfire and Tahoe National Forest also responded.
