Fiber-optic cable project slows down auto traffic in Grass Valley

A fiber-optic cable project is slowing down traffic on Colfax Avenue in Grass Valley.

Sebastian Construction has been working on the fiber-optic cable project in downtown Grass Valley along Colfax Avenue and East Main Street.

The portion along Colfax Avenue still has a significant amount of work unfinished, and is expected to continue for several weeks.

There is also some pothole repair taking place along East Main Street under an encroachment permit that expires today, July 18. City staff has said the contractor will need to submit a schedule of their planned activities for next week.

While work continues, eastbound traffic is being detoured along Highway 20/49. Westbound traffic is still going through, but delays are possible.
