Fatal crash victim ID’d as Reno man

A man who died in a Friday crash near White Cloud Campground was identified as 48-year-old Michael L. Rockel of Reno, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP withheld Rockel’s name until his family was notified.

He was a passenger in a Ford F-350 pickup that flipped onto its side and crashed into a tree, crushing the roof, a half-mile west of the campground on Highway 20 at 7:44 a.m. Friday.

The driver, 63-year-old Harley Anderson of Verdi, was in fair condition Monday at Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
