Fall workshops with theater director Sandra Rockman announced

Local theater director Sandra Rockman announces her schedule of two workshop series beginning the week of Oct. 18. The classes will take place at Miners Foundry Cultural Center and are co-sponsored by the Foundry organization.

“Truth In Acting” will be held on eight Mondays, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 18 through Dec. 6. This class will be tailored to each individual’s experience level. Using scene study, improvisation and physical techniques, this workshop brings participants toward more in-the-moment credibility on stage.

Improvisation for the stage (and for your life), also for eight weeks, will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20 through Dec. 8. This stimulating process encourages access to our creative selves in a delightful manner that bypasses self-consciousness.

The cost for each workshop is $120.

Rockman has worked in local theater since 1978. She is an actress, playwright and has directed more than 25 productions including “The Belle of Amherst,” “You Can’t Take it With You” and “I Remember Mama.” She has worked with the Nevada Union Theatrical Society (NUTS) on their recent production of Hay Fever. For Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra (CATS), she directed “Tea” and “Golden Child.”

Contact Sandra at SandraRockman@sbcglobal.net or (530) 265-6514 for more information and to pre-register, as class sizes are limited.
