Fall victim still critical

A south Nevada County woman identified as Karen Chapman remained in critical condition from a horseback riding accident, a Sutter Roseville Medical Center supervising nurse said Friday.

Chapman, reported to be 43 years old, landed on her head Thursday near her home on Wiggens Way, northwest of Highway 49 and Wolf Road, according to the Higgins Area Fire Protection District and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

She was riding with her 15-year-old daughter, who rushed to her home a quarter-mile away and called 911, CDF Capt. Wendye Stuller said. A helicopter took Chapman to Sutter Roseville.
