Fair day for Nevada County’s Cal Expo booth

The Union staff

Thousands of visitors from around the state learned about the attractions offered between the Bear and Yuba Rivers at Nevada County’s award-winning booth at the Cal Expo state fair.

The booth won the bronze medal for its presentation of historical photos, images of natural sites and a miniature head frame and skiff.

The Grass Valley Downtown Association, the Nevada County Economic Resource Council, Grass Valley Planning Commissioner Eleanor Kenitzer and the Idaho-Maryland Mine Corp. helped assemble the booth, which cost $5,000 to $6,000, downtown association Executive Director Howard Levine said.

“Any way we can get the message out to the public about the qualities of Nevada County, the better it might be.” Levine said.
