Everything’s ducky: Duck race Sept. 13

About 9,000 rubber ducks will bobble down Deer Creek Sept. 13 for the 17th Annual Gold Country Duck Race.

The event is the major annual fundraiser for the 49er Breakfast Rotary Club, benefiting many local school, youth and community organizations.

Racing ducks may be adopted for $5 from 49er Rotarians, from many of the community groups that will benefit from this year’s event and at the race.



Heats start at 11 a.m. and the Final Lucky Race starts at about 1:45 p.m.

First place wins $5,000, second place wins $1,000, and third prize wins $500, plus smaller cash and other prizes in each heat.




The free event includes a children’s carnival with games and activities, music, entertainment, food and refreshments from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ” part of the Constitution Day celebrations.
