End minority rule in California

I’m tired of listening as the “Party of No” spouts the usual nonsense about the inability of the California Legislature to pass a budget, blaming the legislators themselves.

It’s the same nonsensical rant that we hear from Meg Whitman as she tries to buy California’s governorship, when she so cynically ridicules the Legislature for being at an impasse.

Both conveniently forget to mention the two-thirds margin – minority rule – required to pass a budget in California.

This undemocratic rule-by-minority has completely paralyzed the Legislature, but this is the law they’re bound to abide by while California suffers because of Republicans’ intransigence.

Fortunately, California voters have a solution on the ballot this November: Proposition 25 changes the legislative vote requirement to pass a budget from two-thirds to a simple majority. It’s time that we ended minority rule in California. Vote yes on Proposition 25, and get California working again.
