Emu knows what to do

With temperatures ranging from the high 90s to more than 100 degrees in western Nevada County this week, an emu at the county animal shelter finds a way to keep cool with water from a sprinkler in its pen.

Dogs and cats also are available for adoption at the Nevada County Animal Shelter, located at 14647 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley. Call them at 273-2179.
