Ed Scofield will seek a third term as Nevada County Supervisor.

Scofield announced his candidacy for District 2 supervisor at a meeting of nearly 75 friends and supporters at the South Nevada County home of John and Teresia Renwick over the weekend.

District 2 encompasses an area that includes South Nevada County and also includes Lake of the Pines and most of Alta Sierra.

“I am most proud of my role working with others to find solutions to traffic issues on Highway 49, and Higgins Area projects,” Scofield said in a news release. “I have worked to maintain and build reserves getting the county through some tough financial times in the recent past. I have not wavered in my support of public safety and neighborhood security.”

Scofield said he looks forward to “finding solutions to issues, such as increasing workforce housing while protecting neighborhood safety. Especially, I want to continue to work with the Nevada County Airport to extend the runway and keep the Cal Fire air base here.”

He is the current chairman of the Nevada County Board of Supervisors. He is the retired CEO of the Nevada County Fairgrounds, current president of Grass Valley South Rotary Club, past-president of the Grass Valley Rotary Club, past-president of the Grass Valley Chamber of Commerce, and numerous other volunteer organizations.
