Eco Community Thrift marks one year

Special to The Union

Sunday marks the first anniversary of Eco Community Thrift, Nevada County’s newest thrift store.

Eco Community Thrift’s mission is to support and highlight a different local nonprofit each month. So far, owners Curt Smith and Debra Kiva have highlighted the following CASA, Helping Hands, Hospitality House, Domestic Violence and Assault Coalition, Sammie’s Friends, Sierra Jazz Society, The FARM, Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release, Foothill Theatre Company, Sierra Services for the Blind, and for the month of October, APPLE.

The store at 121 Joerschke Drive (next door to the former BriarPatch Co-op) specializes in a huge selection of music (LPs, CDs and cassettes), books, movies, household items and clothing for men, women and children.

To celebrate their anniversary, they are planning a customer appreciation week, which will include specials, treats and music on Saturday, Nov. 7.

If you bring in a can of food during this anniversary week to donate to the local food bank, you can enter a raffle to win a $25 store gift certificate!
