Dorsey project on time, on budget

The Dorsey Drive Interchange Project is on time and on budget, according to Trisha Tillotson with Grass Valley’s public works department.

If all goes according to plan, it will be complete within the next three months.

There’s still plenty of work to do, however.

“Upcoming work will include paving Dorsey Drive, finishing work on the highway, then paving the highway,” Tillotson said.

Construction crews are also widening the north side of the bridge. Other aspects of the project include building curbs, gutters and sidewalks on the north side of Dorsey. They’re also placing aggregate base, or rock and sand.

“They’re placing the rock-base for pavement on the north side of Dorsey,” Tillotson said.

Last week, drivers on Highway 20/49 may have noticed large rigs boring holes into the ground along the southbound on-ramp.

“We had a large drilling company out there and they were putting in the footings for the sign structures going in,” Tillotson said.

Work is currently scheduled to conclude Oct. 15, but that time frame is subject to change.
