Disappearance of Nevada County man turns into homicide investigation

Nevada County authorities say they now are conducting a homicide investigation into Donald J. Nader’s disappearance after finding signs of what appeared to be a “violent struggle” at his home.

Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant on Monday at the 18332 Lawrence Way home of Donald J. Nader, 48. Officers collected evidence from the home and pumped the septic system in their search for Nader, who’s been missing more than two years, authorities said.

“During the execution of the search warrant investigators located signs of what may have been a violent struggle in the residence,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “But further analysis is required of the evidence we have collected.”

Authorities said they need to speak with potential witnesses, who include Marnay Nader, the missing man’s wife.

Local authorities have said they issued an arrest warrant for Marnay Nader after finding drugs and guns at her home in June. A fugitive from justice since her arrests that month in California and Idaho, Marnay Nader remains at-large.

“Developments in this case have led investigators to believe Mr. Nader’s disappearance is suspicious, and this agency will be treating this investigation as a homicide investigation pending evidence to the contrary,” the release states.
