People who want to help area wildlife, including owls, will have two chances in August to dine and drink for their benefit — and even enjoy their company.

Two “Dine Out for Wildlife” events will be Thursday and Aug. 21 at an area eatery and a brewery.

A portion of the proceeds each night will go to events organizer Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release.

“Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that rehabilitates injured or orphaned native wildlife, birds, and bats and releases them back to the wild,” said WR&R Board Member Joan Pancharian. “All proceeds go to provide food and care for critters in need. “

This month’s events will be:

— Thursday :Smiley Guys, 131 Joershcke Dr, Grass Valley, 5 to 8 p.m.

—Aug. 21: Ol’ Republic Brewery, 124 Argall Way, Nevada City , 4:30 to 8 p.m.

According to Pancharian, the group’s “wildlife ambassadors” will be present at both events. Those include a Great Horned Owl, Barn Owl, Screech Owl and others.
