Native plant meeting set

Learn how to use native plants to design a garden with the Redbud chapter of the California Native Plant Society.

Designer Alrie Middlebrook, of San Jose, will speak at a meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Auburn Civic Center.

Middlebrook has designed and built more than 200 California native gardens using a rich diversity of plants that also conserve water and eliminate the use of pesticides.

Her San Jose business, Middlebrook Gardens, specializes in native gardens and sustainable landscaping. She recently published “Designing California Native Gardens,” which she co-authored with field botanist Glenn Keator.
