Despite complaints, text not in mailer

Voters won’t get the text of Measure D in the mail, the Nevada County official in charge of elections has decided.

Initiative backers have complained that the full text of the property claims initiative wasn’t sent to voters in a sample ballot mailer.

Nor was the complete text sent out for any other measure, wrote Nevada County Clerk-Recorder Lorraine Jewett-Burdick in an Thursday letter to initiative backer Russ Steele.

The complete text of all measures was left out because of the size and complexity it would have added to the sample ballot booklets mailed to voters, wrote Jewett-Burdick.

She also wrote that the mailing complied with the law.
