Defendants in rape case plead not guilty

The four defendants in a forcible rape case have pleaded not guilty in Nevada County Superior Court.

The victim is allegedly 14 and three of the defendants – Kristopher Alan Pozos, 16, and Job Alexis Juarez and Fernando Enrique Salgado-Nunez, both 17 – are being tried as adults. The fourth defendant, Ivan Figueroa, is 19.

All four have been charged with forcible rape, forcible rape in concert and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor more than three years younger in the alleged assault, which allegedly happened at a party in Grass Valley on Sept. 10.



The three minors remain in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail, while Figueroa’s bail was set at $75,000. They could face as much as nine years in prison.

The preliminary hearing in the case was set for 9:30 a.m. Oct. 26.
