Cub Scouts’ Space Derby Race draws 50 participants

Cub Scout Pack 23 of Nevada City held its annual Space Derby Race Nov. 20. The winners were: Jacob Hufheinz, first place; Alex Charvoz, second place; and Jack Crowe, third place.

The space rockets were built by each scout and powered by rubber bands and a propeller. They race on a track that is made of mono filament line and wire guides. Fifty scouts participated in the event.
