Crash kills Rough and Ready resident

A Rough and Ready man was killed in a motorcycle crash Monday in the Truckee area, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 12:05 p.m., Terry Spink, 51, was killed on Donner Pass Road, according to Officer Steve Skeen of the Truckee CHP office. Skeen said Spink was traveling eastbound and following a garbage truck when the truck braked to turn into the driveway of the Kingvale Lodge.

The motorcyclist applied his brakes and was ejected as he and his 2007 Harley Davidson slid underneath the truck, according to a CHP report.

Area paramedics initiated CPR at the scene, and Spink was transported by air ambulance to Renown Medical Center in Reno. He was pronounced dead there at 1:40 p.m., the report said.
