Covering the essentials

Editor’s note: Linda Som and her husband owned the Daily Donut in Grass Valley for many years. She recently returned to open Essential Salon, on West McKnight Way.

What goods or services do you offer?

The latest International hair coloring and styling, hair removal, skin care and cosmetics.

One of the biggest trends right now is long, thick eye lashes!

I make a point to become educated about the current styles and get myself connected with the international beauty industry by joining various trade associations.

Beauty trends are always changing, and everyone can benefit from an updated hair style. I love to give my clients a makeover!

I am very dedicated to being a hair stylist and to owning my salon. I work long hours, but I love it!

My client is my priority.

I’ve been a hair stylist for 15 years. I am also a board-certified hair colorist and internationally certified esthetician.

I first moved to Grass Valley in 1989 and started a business called Daily Donut with my husband. During that time, I went to beauty college, earned my cosmetology license and worked in Grass Valley as a hair stylist.

We owned Daily Donut for 14 years, selling the business in 2003.

I purchased my first beauty salon in El Dorado Hills and operated it for six years, selling that business in December 2009.

I decided to come back to Grass Valley because I love the small-town community. I think Grass Valley is glorious!
