Court summary

A former Nevada County man accused of dodging child-support payments was arraigned Thursday in Nevada County Superior Court.

Robin L. Ridner, 36, is scheduled to enter pleas Jan. 17 on a single felony count of child abandonment and 11 misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court order.

Ridner owes $10,548 in back support for his son, who lives in the Grass Valley area, and has repeatedly missed making court-ordered $400 monthly payments, according to a District Attorney’s Office report.

Some payments have been made by authorities intercepting his tax returns or garnishing wages, but Ridner has continuously moved – taking jobs in Arkansas, Washington and Oregon, his most recent stop – to avoid payments, the DA’s Office alleges.

Ridner is accused of abandoning the child Oct. 1, 1999.

In another case:

— Allen P. Wakefield, 39, of San Juan Ridge was sentenced Thursday to 300 days in jail for domestic assault and resisting arrest. Ninety days will be suspended if he spends that much time in inpatient substance-abuse treatment.

Wakefield was arrested Oct. 24 at a Ridge home on Murphy Road after sheriff’s officers got a report that he was suicidal.

Officers later learned he had assaulted a woman; and, while en route to Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, Wakefield kicked out a squad car window, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Wakefield was ordered to pay $2,613 for the damage.
