Couple marks 60 years together

Robert and Marjorie Stanbury will celebrate 60 years of marriage on March 18. Both were born in Butte, Mont., but, because of World War II, didn’t meet until 1946 while attending Montana State University in Bozeman.

Marjorie is a loved homemaker who enjoys her plants and flowers. She created loving homes for the couple’s five sons and one daughter.

When the children were older, she returned to school and received her bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University and a master’s degree from the University of San Francisco.

Robert was in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service in World War II and received two engineering degrees before going to work for an electronic defense contractor. He was promoted to a number of higher positions, which included managing large programs for F-111 aircraft electronic equipment.

During this period, he returned to night school and received a master’s degree in business. He retired after 41 years as a director of the company in program planning and control. He is the chair of the Nevada County Citizen Corps Council.

The Stanburys’ children are Corey and wife, Dana; Kedar and wife, Diane; Shawn and wife, Yvonne; Davin; Conan and wife, Gretchen; and Megan and husband, James. Robert and Marjorie also have 12 grandchildren.

There will be a celebration in the near future.

The Stanburys lived in Mountain View in the Bay Area and now live in Penn Valley.
