County workers earning over $80K should take pay cut

I have a novel idea. Yet, in this society, it will probably not fly very well. To start off, my family can live comfortably within our means off of my $32,000 salary (after taxes) and my wife’s $17,000 (after taxes).

We have one child and pay for our health insurance privately. We grow our own food and live as sustainably as we can.

On to my novel idea … How about all the employees working for the county making over $80,000 take a 10 or more percent pay cut voluntarily? Get rid of your unnecessary payments. Send your kids to Sierra College first instead of university right off. Not many kids in this society are even ready for that responsibility, sadly. Scrap the $50,000 roundabout art – what a waste!

All we have to do is live within our means. We need to stop trying to compete with everyone around us. It is a small part of what is ruining our great country, as well as setting a bad example for our kids.

I am certain that if every county employee making over $80,000 could live simpler and take less pay, until the recovery comes, everyone will benefit in the end.
