County science fair yields winning results

The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office held the first Nevada County Science Fair this week.

The exhibits will be on display at the Imaginarium from noon to 5 p.m. through Sunday. Six projects will be recommended for the state science fair in Sacramento.

The winners are:

— Best of Show in unpredictable results: Tucker DeYoung, Nevada Union High School, ninth grade.

— Best of Show in predictable results: Jenny McKnight, Ready Springs School, seventh grade.

— First place: A tie between Andrew Hernandez, Union Hill, seventh grade; and the team of Jason, Karl and Stephan Cobbe, Mount St. Mary’s/Bitney Springs home study, sixth grade.

— Second place: A tie between Aaron Gallagher, Union Hill, sixth grade; and Dan Combs, Ready Springs, seventh grade.

— Third place: A tie between Lauren O’Connor, Union Hill, sixth grade; and the team of Claudia Echegaray and Mandy Kulezyk, Ready Springs, eighth grade.
