County businesses can apply for disaster loans

Small, non-agricultural businesses in Nevada County are eligible to receive low-interest disaster loans, according to the Small Business Association.

“These loans are meant to offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by the drought that occurred in Yuba County from April 1 through May 15, 2008,” Alfred E. Judd, director of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center /West, said in a press release.

Business in Butte, Placer, Plumas Sierra, Sutter and Yuba counties are eligible to apply as well for the Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

Application forms are available from SBA’s Customer Service Center by calling 800-659-2955, e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov, or at http://www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance. Hearing impaired individuals may call 800-877-8339.

The deadline to apply for these loans is Feb. 27, 2009.
