Council: Letters will speed construction

To speed up the construction of a freeway interchange at Dorsey Drive, the Grass Valley City Council this week urged area residents to write letters to the governor and other elected officials. The state needs to relinquish nearly $10 million within the next year to keep the project on schedule. It is currently projected to open around 2011, Nevada County Transportation Commission Executive Director Dan Landon said.

Landon suggested writing:

• State Sen. Sam Aanestad, State Capitol, Room 2054, Sacramento 95814.

• State Assemblyman Rick Keene, State Capitol, Room 6027, P.O. Box 942849, Sacramento 94249-003.

• Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, State Capitol, Sacramento 95814.

• State Sen. Tom Torlakson, chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing and Transportation, State Capitol Room 4032, Sacramento 95814.

• State Assemblywoman Jenny Oropeza, chair of Committee on Transportation, State Capitol, P.O. Box 942849, Sacramento 94249-0055.
