In a page 2A story Friday about day-care workers and a proposed bill that would make any criminal histories of them available, the progression of paragraphs may have misled some readers to believe a person interviewed made a statement she did not make to The Union.

The paragraph, “Some worry that applicants with old offenses committed decades ago, such as smoking pot, would be unfairly judged today as child care providers,” was made in general, not by day-care worker Nora Turpin.

We regret the confusion.
