Community comes together for Long Walk to support Hospitality House

The Long Walk, a 1.8-mile trek that started at the Sutton Way homeless shelter, was hosted to raised money for Hospitality House on Saturday.

The shelter raised about $10,000 from the inaugural walk in 2014. This year’s goal is $15,000. The money is used to pay for the homeless shelter’s operations.

A separate fundraiser for Hospitality House — an online Indiegogo campaign — ends Nov. 1. The organization set a $56,000 goal for the 30-day campaign. The shelter had raised almost $17,000 by Tuesday. That money is earmarked for start-up costs for a shelter thrift store planned to open in January.
