COMMENTARY: Nevada Union FFA teams place well at local competition
Submitted to The Union
Nevada Union High School FFA rocked the house at the annual Sierra Buttes Section Opening and Closing Contest at Placer High School, with three first place team finishes.
The contest entailed all competitors memorizing the official opening and closing ceremonies script and presenting it to three judges.
If one were to attend an FFA meeting or convention, they would see this performed by the officers of the organization. Nevada Union FFA brought more than 40 kids to the contest, competing on several different teams. It was an opportunity to get to know members from other chapters.
The contest had three categories: Novice, Advanced and Officer Teams. In each portion of the competition, there were first place teams and high individuals for each position.
In the novice portion, members of Team A were:
President Emily Dremann, Vice President Brittany Price, Secretary Abel King, Treasurer Mairi Jo Jones, Reporter Jarrod Ferguson, Sentinel Kayla Allen, and Historian Kayla Allen.
Novice Team B — President Maddy Peltzer, Vice President Amanda Perry, Secretary Dakota McIntire, Treasurer Tyler Warner, Reporter Andrew Coco, Sentinel Eli Ferguson, and Historian: Hunter Golden.
Novice High Individuals — Maddy Peltzer, Tyler Warner and Hunter Golden.
Advanced Team A — President: Maxie Holmberg-Douglas, Vice President: Heath Mullen, Secretary: Fallyn Foster, Treasurer: Jenn Gordon, Reporter: Ellen Van Noy, Sentinel: Shelby Graham.

Advanced Team C — President Wyatt Price, Vice President Kendall Brazil-Bloche, Secretary Taylor Stafford, Treasurer Cody Butterfield, Reporter Cassidy Balzer, and Sentinel Connor Stafford.
Advanced High Individuals — Maxie Holmberg-Douglas, Fallyn Foster, Jenn Gordon, Ellen Van Noy, and Shelby Graham.
Chapter Officer Team — President Bailey Bivens, Vice President Kari Jarvis, Secretary Trent Jarvis, Treasurer Willow Yeager, Reporter Taylor Foster, Sentinel Davi Pettinato, and Historian Jordan Smith.

Congratulations to Novice Team B, Advanced Team A, and the officer team for taking home first place.
