College to get new look by 2009

By the fall of 2009, there will be eight new buildings at the Nevada County campus of Sierra College ” at a cost of about $46.5 million.

Money from a bond passed in November 2004 will fund the construction. Groundbreaking is supposed to take place late September this year, said Jeannette Bischoff of the president’s office.

New construction will include a student services building, a health and physical education center, a building for classes on two-dimensional art, a separate building for lessons on three-dimensional art, a public safety training facility, a college center and new classrooms.

The project will be completed on schedule, Bischoff added.

On Wednesday, Sierra College updated six new members of the citizen’s committee overseeing new construction at the Nevada County campus on where the building projects were at present.
