City Council has its ‘head in the sand’

Many residents of Nevada City have come to the realization that the current city council has a tendency to govern through indifference to the concerns of the people, on whose behalf they are supposed to act. Sadly, when it isn’t indifference that rules their behavior and voting patterns, it’s arrogance!

Anyone who has tried to express a view that the insular five don’t agree with or fail to understand is ignored at best, or, more commonly, is ridiculed and dismissed as a crank. It doesn’t matter if citizens make their comments and suggestions in person or in writing, the council refuses to respond or even acknowledge that there is some concern about the way city business is being handled.

There are so many areas of concern that the current city council and management are mishandling or ignoring that The Union would have to devote a special edition to cover them all. “Asleep at the wheel” doesn’t begin to describe what’s happening; “head in the sand!” does.
