Church’s window winterized

Volunteers Cliff Brown, left, and Brian Jones tacked plastic over the O’Connor window at St. Joseph’s Cultural Center in Grass Valley recently. The protective covering for the winter will slow deterioration of the window. The window will be removed in spring of 2007, a Nevada City artisan will redo the leading, and the repaired window will be put back into its original position in the fall of 2007. Other structural repairs also will be made to the wall to support the window. St. Joseph’s is part of the historic Mt. St. Mary’s complex at the corner of Church and Chapel Streets in Grass Valley.
