Chinook symposium is this week

The third annual spring run Chinook symposium will be held for the first time in Nevada City beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night at the Miners Foundry.

The event is sponsored by the Salmonid Restoration Federation and South Yuba River Citizens League. Tribal leaders, scientists and community activists will lead the Thursday evening discussion groups.

On Friday, participants can choose between a raft trip on the lower Yuba River near Daguerre Point Dam, a driving and walking tour of the lower Yuba River floodplain or a driving tour of PG&E and NID infrastructure near Lake Spaulding.

On Saturday, snorkeling investigations of the South Yuba River and a Butte Creek Field Tour near Chico are available.
