Casino and card room grand opening today

It’s time to shuffle up and deal at the grand opening of the Towers Casino and Card Room today in Grass Valley.

Located in the Holiday Inn Express building at 115 Bank St., the card room picks up from where the Gold Rush Gaming Parlor left off, said owner Jamey Robinson, who bought the business with her husband John.

“I’ve been a poker player for quite a few years, it’s a part-time passion of mine and my husband’s,” Robinson said. “We both felt we could really enjoy this business.”

The Morgan Hill residents plan to move to Grass Valley in a few years, she added.

The casino offers all varieties of poker and Nevada-style blackjack, with buy-in as low as $20 and as high as $500 or more, Robinson said. The company will have five active tables for play (it has seven tables, but five licenses), and about 20 employees.

“The grand opening should be a lot of fun, with catering, a DJ from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and live band from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.,” Robinson said. “All you have to do is sign up for a player’s club card and everything is complimentary.”
