Candace S. Heidelberger formally declares re-election bid for Nevada County Superior Court

Nevada County Superior Court Judge Candace S. Heidelberger on Monday stated her intention to run for re-election, becoming the first candidate this election season to formally declare for office.

Heidelberger filed her declaration of intention with the local elections office on the first day allowed by law.

The paperwork is a signed intention that Heidelberger will run for office. She must formally declare her candidacy between Feb. 15 and March 11.

The declaration of intent to run for office is a quirk in election law. Only Superior Court judicial candidates must file that paperwork. All others will declare their candidacy during the candidate filing period that starts in two weeks.

Heidelberger’s position is the only Superior Court judgeship up for election this year.
