Cal Fire officials said an unattended illegal campfire was the sole cause of a fire near the Northstar California resort property in eastern Nevada County Monday.

No charges have been filed yet as officials continue their investigation.

Firefighters were alerted to the small fire near Mt. Watson Road north of Lake Tahoe. Cal Fire officials said the fire was reported around 1:10 p.m. Monday, and six fire engines, one dozer and air tanker support was involved in the response to the fire.
