Cal Fire reports possible fires due to lightning strike

Update: 4:20 p.m.

Cal Fire officials reported units did not locate any fires in Cascade Shores, and units are returning to headquarters.

Update: 3:45 p.m.

The reported vegetation fire on Valencia Road could not be located. Fire units are still staged on Highway 20 due to other reports of fires caused by lightning strikes, just south of the area, according to Cal Fire officials.

Local fire units are en route to locate a vegetation fire reported near the intersection of Valencia Road and San Simeon Court in Nevada County, off of Highway 20.

Cal Fire officials said the fire may be caused by lightning, and that multiple reports of lightning strikes causing fires in the Cascade Shores Community have also been reported.
