More funding for

chipping program

The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County has received a $30,000 grant from the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District for the Defensible Space Chipping Program.

The council contracts with local vendors to provide the door-to-door service to pick up green debris and chip it for free to help homeowners avert wildfire. During the 2006-2007 fiscal year, the council completed more than 1,400 work orders through the chipping program.
