Lifetime Adoption Foundation will offer household items such as bedding, rugs, dishes, blankets, furniture and clothing appropriate for job interviews to new or soon-to-be-emancipated foster teens that apply for help during November. The donation is in recognition of National Adoption Awareness Month.

“We are very excited about helping foster teens who are getting ready for independent living,” said Mardi Caldwell, Lifetime Adoption Foundation founder.

All requests must be received by Nov. 30. For more details or to apply for this program, call 432-7383, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or e-mail help@lifetimeadoption.com.

Tax changes affect domestic partners

A new law requires people in domestic partnerships to file joint state income tax returns, while continuing to file separate federal tax returns.

That and other issues affecting registered domestic partners will be discussed at a seminar called “What’s love got to do with it?” The presenter will be accountant Guy Crouch, of Auburn and Sacramento.

The seminar will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Sierra Two Community Center, Room 10, 2791 24th St., Sacramento.

Current information also will be offered on financial planning, estate planning, home buying and adoption.

Seminar hosts include Equality California; it is free, though a donation is suggested. For more information, call 210-6688.
