New left-turn lanes are expected to be painted later this month into Sierra College Drive to allow for safer access into area office buildings.

The restriping will cost $25,000, to be paid out of regional transportation money held by the Nevada County Transportation Commission.

In addition, the road will be slurry-sealed to hide the old striping and make the road wear longer. That project, which costs nearly $100,000, will keep the asphalt in good condition for five to 10 years. That is less costly than making spot repairs every couple of years for the next decade, City Engineer Tim Kiser said.
