Bierwagen’s Donner Trail Fruit farm is proud to be offering the third in a series of workshops, Seasons On The Farm. Truck Crops and Garden Crops, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at the farm in Chicago Park, led by Chris Bierwagen.

Bierwagen will talk about what you can and can’t do in the foothills, how to grow crops here, and how to prepare for the season. Workshop participants will be able to view different garden areas and obtain valuable information for their own gardens.

Cost of the workshop, including handouts and refreshments, is $15 per person, or $25 per couple. The workshop will take place rain or shine. Come prepared for any kind of weather and possibly muddy conditions.

Bierwagen’s Donner Trail Fruit is located on State Highway 174 between the towns of Colfax and Grass Valley. It is approximately eight miles from Grass Valley. Parking is available in the farmyard; follow the signs from the main Highway 174 entrance.

Meeting for dog park set

A meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church to discuss the possibility of an off-leash dog park and trails on the land that Al Salter left to the Nevada County Land Trust specifically for that purpose.

The Land Trust has established a planning deadline of May 31, which members of S.O.S. (Save Our Salter) are working to meet. The group encourages to the public to attend and offer ideas on establishing the park, which would provide a safe place for dogs to run in a controlled environment.

Peace Lutheran Church is located at 828 W. Main St. in Grass Valley.

For more information on S.O.S., visit http://www.salterdogpark.org or call 274-0677.
