The Nevada County Fair has scheduled April 8 for mandatory tagging of all market beef to be entered in this year’s Fair “Wild About Ewe.”

All 4-H, FFA, grange and independent exhibitors are required to bring their own animals to the fair on the dates specified for ear tagging. The exhibitor must be in the fourth grade or 9 years old by Jan. 1 of the current year to qualify for a large animal project.

Beef exhibitors must have a transportation slip (golden color) prior to transporting the animal. All cattle transported within the State of California must carry this in the vehicle.

Although an exhibitor may enter only one large animal in the Fair, each exhibitor will be allowed to tag a maximum of two animals per species, not to exceed four animals.

The 2006 Nevada County Fair is scheduled for Aug. 9-13. For more information on market animal tagging or becoming in the Junior Livestock Auction as a buyer or volunteer call the Fair Office at 273-6217.
