Sierra College is holding a Health Fair on Thursday at the Nevada County Campus from 12:30-3 p.m.

Activities include: cholesterol screening, body fat calculations, blood pressure, flu shots, vision screening, posture evaluations, CPR demonstrations, Self-breast exam instruction, and lots of other health information. The event is free.

Raffle items include: six month trial membership at Courthouse Athletics, three three month trial memberships at Fast and Fit for Women, and Bikram Yoga classes.



Giveaways include pedometers and water bottles. The will be free fitness testing and offering health advice from a variety of community health experts.

The event will be in the lower quad, the cafeteria, student lounge and student health services. The college is located at 250 Sierra College Drive in Grass Valley.

Dance classes available in Chico

The Chico Women’s Club will offer lessons in salsa and ballroom dancing on Feb. 24 in downtown Chico. Lessons are open to people of all ages. Beginning instructions in Mexican-influenced salsa will start at 7 p.m. and continue for an hour. This will be followed by Cuban Casino-style salsa from 8-9 p.m. The open dance floor will start from 9 p.m. for the next hour. The “Salsa Sierra” of Grass Valley will give a performance at 10 p.m.

To dance only, the cost is $4 for students, $6 for the general public. To take the lessons, students are $6, while the general public is $8. To dance and take one lesson, the cost is $8 for students, $10 for the general public. Students pay $10, and the general public pay $12 to dance and take two lessons. The event will take place at 592 E. 3rd St., downtown Chico.
