Bierwagen’s Donner Trail Fruit farm on Highway 174 in Chicago Park will host the first in a series of farming workshops from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The initial workshop at the 104-year-old farm is titled “Planting, Pruning and Spraying,” led by Chris Bierwagen. The workshop is for those who have bought fruit trees and want to make them produce well.

Bierwagen will demonstrate how to plant and prune fruit trees and when to spray them. Handouts will included.

The workshop is $15 per person, or $24 per couple. The workshop will occur rain or shine at the farm, which is about four miles from Colfax.
